The difference between casting and stamping is how they are produced. A stamping is struck and stamped metal, while a casting is poured liquified metal. Stampings tend to be a little bit crisper in detail and have sharper features. But with castings, you can do more dimensional products like rings or certain pendants.
Metal diversity is one thing we’re known for at Mel-Co-Ed. Our team regularly works with precious and base metals, as well as gold, silver, gold-filled, brass, stainless steel, and cold rolled steel.
Yes. We have a full in-house tool room with toolmakers and all tool making capabilities.
We have over 30,000 items in our line of product and in our system. We have a PDF catalog that customers can choose designs from. We also have a showroom where all our open products are available to view in person.
At Mel-Co-Ed, the process of getting a design made into production work is straightforward. We'll review the job with you, then put a quote together. Once you accept the quote, we start the process of tooling. We run the tooling and update you with statuses of how everything is going. Once we are done with the tooling, we'll either send you a proof or preproduction samples, depending on what the job is. Once you get that proof or those preproduction samples, and they get your approval, we will then move to production. If you don’t approve them, we go back to the tool and make the necessary changes from your feedback.
We make both. Some of our customers come in with their vision and/or design, then we create the design for them. We also have an open line of product that customers can use to integrate with their existing confined items.
Yes.
We have die striking capabilities and automatic tooling capabilities. We can polish, plate, form, and manage customers’ inventories. We also have over 50 years of industry knowledge. But if there's something that we don't do, we have a network of sources that we can connect you with so you can find the expert you need for a specific design or project.
Lead time varies depending on the size of the production order. An order can be done as quickly as one week, or it can take months. A 1,000 or 2,000-piece order, for example, would take about 6-8 weeks.
